Rich History

Goodyear was part of the 16,000 acres purchased by Paul Litchfield of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The cotton grown in the area was used to make rubber for airplanes in World War I. The area was called Goodyear in honor of the founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Charles Goodyear. When the town of Goodyear incorporated in November of 1946 there were 151 homes, 250 apartments, a grocery store, a service station, and a beauty and barbershop. The town officially became a city in 1985.
